A Tail-Waggin’ Good Time

Grab your party hat and party attire because everyone loves a birthday party, your family’s four-legged companion included!

According to Forbes, in 2023, 66 percent of United States households (86.9 million homes) own a pet. Additionally, 85 percent of dog owners and 76 percent of cat owners consider their pets to be a member of the family. It makes sense then, that in recent years, pet parties, specifically doggy birthday parties have risen in popularity.

Local adventure and entertainment complex, Lake Area Adventures is taking their birthday party offerings to a completely new level with their latest roll out of Doggy Birthday Parties.

A pet-friendly hang out on any given day, the idea to offer Doggy Birthday Parties was inspired by the team’s love for dogs and demand from the community.

“Our Lake Area Adventures team is filled with dog lovers, so we already cater to four-legged family members with our pet-friendly patio, special ‘For the Puppers’ menu and Chef Amanda Cusey’s Buddy’s Brew,” says Tim Robles, General Manager, Operator and Co-owner of Lake Area Adventures. “We began getting questions about Doggy Birthday Parties and since we already offer kids’ birthday parties; it was an easy decision to make these canine celebrations an offering.”

The first Doggy Birthday Party was held in mid-August and was a smashing success.

“Since we booked the first Doggy Birthday Party last month, we have gotten a lot of interest in future bookings,” adds Robles. “We expect these bookings to really ramp up in the coming months.”

So how exactly does a Doggy Birthday Party work? Get your invitations ready and plan for the best doggy playdate ever, because this party is designed for 10 furry friends!

“We fence off a portion of our very large outdoor covered patio and it’s off to the races for our dog friends to run around and play during their party,” Robles explains. “The party package includes a doggy pool, decorated table, two pitchers of Buddy’s Brew, doggy gift bags which include party toys and dehydrated veggie bites, a Lake Area Adventures bandana for the birthday girl or boy and pupcakes for all our doggy participants.”

This new offering for guests fits in nicely with Lake Area Adventures overall mission of providing entertainment for the entire family according to Robles.

“Our goal is to provide adventure for every member of the family and we know that pets are important family members.”

In addition to serving up adventure for all members of the family, these parties also meet another critically important goal for Lake Area Adventures.

“We strive to always being open to requests and feedback from our guests and the community-at-large,” says Robles. “Offering Doggy Birthday Parties was something our guests requested and it was easy to put in place. We are so happy to say we did it!”

If a pet of the feline persuasion is more your style, they are welcome at Lake Area Adventures, too!

“Our patio is always pet-friendly, but outside of a booked party with its own space, a leash is required,” adds Robles.

Lake Area Adventures is located at 1337 Country Club Road in Lake Charles.

In addition to parties and events, the family-friendly venue offers boat and kayak rentals and tours. Bounce houses are also available for rent. The adventure complex features an airpark, rock-climbing walls, gamers lounge, Omni arena, ropes course and aquatics center.

The venue is also home to The Terrace Restaurant, featuring award-winning Chef Amanda Cusey.
