The 6 Summer Skin Treatments You Can Do All Summer Long
July 2026by Jordan Smith
Few things compare to the stress-free, laid-back feeling of a vacation. While most people aren’t boarding a plane every weekend, their wardrobes tell a different story. This season, women are dressing like they’re on vacation, even when at home. Thrive spoke with Lauren Monroe, owner of Mimosa Boutique, for tips on how to channel that getaway mindset through everyday style.
Resort wear is no longer reserved for beach trips. Shoppers are gravitating toward lightweight fabrics, playful prints and throw-on-and-go looks for summer. “A breezy maxi or midi dress is a must-have this season,” Monroe says. “Because you’re not having to match a top with a bottom, it takes most of the thinking out of getting dressed. A flowy, printed dress gives the impression that you put extra effort into your look, even if you just threw it on.” Try styling a maxi dress with sneakers for school drop-off and daytime errands, then switching to platform sandals for dinner or evening plans. The versatility is hard to beat.
Matching short and skort sets offer another easy option for achieving a resort-inspired look. Monroe says customers consistently reach for matching sets in her store. “Matching sets are a no-brainer and do all the heavy lifting. You can even separate the top and bottom to create more outfit options.” From stripes and polka dots to seasonal florals, printed sets feel balanced and styled without the need to over-accessorize. Look for lightweight linen styles to beat the heat while maintaining a getaway feel.
When prints take a back seat, accessories can elevate an everyday outfit. This summer, chunky beaded necklaces are trending, while delicate gold chains are less prominent. Printed scarves are also gaining popularity. Tie one around your neck, wrap it on a purse strap or wear it in your hair for an instant out-of-town feel. “Don’t be afraid to mix accessories this summer. At Mimosa, we love to add a beaded necklace on top of a neck scarf for a bright, layered look,” Monroe says. Stick to simple hoop or stud earrings and let your other accessories take center stage.
As trends evolve, summer footwear is shifting from chunky, thick-strapped sandals to minimal, strappy styles. While sandals with buckles and metal embellishments remain popular, thinner straps, neutral tones and barely-there silhouettes are gaining traction. Styles from last year still work, but sleeker profiles feel more current. In addition to strappy sandals, natural textures like raffia, shells and beads are making their way into footwear. These details lean into the resortwear aesthetic and pair easily with both neutral and bold looks.
A vacation state of mind doesn’t require a destination. It can be woven into everyday routines through thoughtful wardrobe choices. Whether it’s a quick lunch date or a full day of errands, reaching for seasonal pieces can shift not just how you look but how you feel. This summer, vacation dressing is less about where you are going and more about how you want to show up.
