October 2026Dan’elle Clark on Taking Over the Shop and the Power of Customized Hats
When I took over Bespoke Hat Company in 2024, I stepped into an already established and welcoming hat shop with a great foundation.
I wanted to honor what had already been built while also adding my own personal touch and continuing to grow the creative, customized side of the business. My hope was for Bespoke to remain a place people enjoyed coming into, while also becoming somewhere they could be part of creating something that felt truly personal to them.
My love for hats really started before I ever took over the shop. A good friend of mine was battling breast cancer, and a few of us came together and hosted a hat bar benefit for her. That experience stayed with me. I loved watching everyone choose their hats, pick out the details and make each one their own, all while coming together to support someone we loved. I think that’s when my love for hats —and especially the customization side of them—really began to grow.
That creative side is still one of my favorite parts of Bespoke today. I love that you can start with a simple hat and completely change its look and personality. Depending on the person, it can become classic, western, feminine, edgy, distressed or completely one-of-a-kind.
Inside the store, customers can find a variety of well-known hat brands including Stetson, Resistol, Charlie One Horse, Gigi Pip and Bailey, along with other styles for both men and women. We also carry Bed|Stu leather bags and accessories, as well as a selection of clothing and other pieces throughout the shop.
Customization is really at the heart of what we do. We have a wide variety of hatbands, silk ribbons, conchos, feathers, pins, charms, stones and specialty accessories that allow each customer to create something unique. We can shape hats, cut brims, distress them, add branding, burning and custom artwork depending on the look someone is going for.
Sometimes a customer walks in knowing exactly what they want, and other times we create the look together as we go. That’s one of the things I enjoy most—taking someone’s ideas, helping them choose the right pieces and watching the entire hat come together.
We also offer private hat parties, which have become such a fun part of the business. Groups can come in together, choose their hats and accessories and enjoy the whole customization experience with their friends. It turns buying a hat into a memory and an experience.
For someone wanting something even more special, we can also create handmade hats using nutria fur felt. Those can be customized from the beginning, from the shape and style to the finishing details, allowing us to create something truly one-of-a-kind.
Looking ahead, I would love to continue growing that personalized side of Bespoke. I want to do more private parties, events and collaborations, and continue expanding what we’re able to make and customize ourselves. The handmade side of the business is something I would especially love to continue growing.
There are plenty of places where someone can buy a hat, but my hope for Bespoke has always been that people come here for more than that. I want them to walk out with something that feels personal, something they had a hand in creating and something they’re excited to wear.
