MONTHLY MADE: Jonathan Thomas – Bromethius Workshop
September 2026Lake Area Ballet Theatre (LABT) is celebrating its 12th season.
The faculty and board are dedicated to staging full-scale ballet performances, producing new and innovative works, and providing a strong and diverse curriculum for the next generation of dancers. They are proud to showcase local talent and guest artists each year. Colleen Cannon Benoit serves as artistic director.
The Nutcracker is a full-length and family-friendly ballet that showcases the enchanting story of young Clara and her favorite toy, a nutcracker, brought to life. Dreams of The Land of Sweets, the Sugar Plum Fairy, dancing snowflakes and a duel between toy soldiers and mice are mesmerizing on the stage, complemented by beautiful vintage costumes, stunning scenery and a magical Christmas tree. The whimsy of Mother Ginger, the mystery of Drosselmeyer and the thrill of the music by Tchaikovsky provides a delightful classic that stands as a seasonal gift to the child in all of us.
LABT is offering one shortened, sensory-friendly version of Clara’s Land of Sweets. It is intended to create an inclusive, supportive environment for children and adults with sensory or developmental disabilities. Plus, our professional guest artist is a local native, bringing his homegrown talent back to our community.
